Forensic RMN Senior Nurse Job Sheffield
We are seeking an RMN Senior Nurse job seeker to join our client at an expanding forensic and mental health service.
The ideal candidate will need to have Personality Disorder experience as a ward manager or similar.
The successful candidate will initially assist in opening and stabilising a new Personality Disorder ward and ultimately move into the Senior Nursing team and assist the Clinical Nursing Director in delivery of the services on site.
RMN Senior Nurse Job Duties include :
1.As the lead nurse for Education, to oversee, support, supervise and appraise nursing colleagues within the Our client Group. Attend senior management meetings. Take the lead in developing the nursing service across the group.
2. To provide a nursing service to the individual in our care. To assess, develop implement and evaluate programmes of medical care for individual residents,
3. To take a lead role in the development of the nursing team and support colleagues in best practice principles, outcome measurement and care planning.
4. To develop and review clinical pathways between home and local NHS services
5.Provide professional advice both within and outside the school and ensure and formulate policies within own sphere of practice.
6. Monitor individual in our care health needs and maintain records and conduct basic prescribing as agreed
7. Conduct medical assessment of the Looked After Children.
8. Facilitate change and develop the service in line with school strategic direction for the provision of health care.
9. Arrange consultation with the GPs, psychiatrist and any of the health professionals involved with appropriate reviews.
10. Review regularly with the consultant paediatrician/consultant psychiatrist all regular medication for individual residents and organise specific investigations as required.
11. Liaise with the GPs when residents are ill to ensure the appropriate treatment is carried out as required.
12. Participate in the planning and implementation of individual resident’s care plans.
13. Encourage and establish effective communication systems between professionals and agencies as appropriate.
14. To liaise with care and education staff on all issues/information relating to pupil medication.
15. To collect, on a weekly basis, medication from the pharmacy.
16. To oversee medical records and make appropriate notes on the records as necessary.
17. To make appointments for individual in our care with other medical services, including dentists, opticians, hospital appointments, orthodontists, etc., and record this information in the appropriate files.
18. To check medication in and out and distribute to the appropriate house bases.
19. To check the dosage and frequency of medication and convey this information to care staff.
20. Prepare Medication Administration Record Sheets (MAR sheets) for each item of medication for all individual in our care. Audit, on a weekly basis, individual Medical files and Medication storage.
Replenish First Aid Cabinets and review contents.
21. Arrange medication in sufficient time and amount to cover school holidays, weekends home and school trips.
22. To maintain an awareness of your role in relation to legislation re; medication, medicals and health care of the individual in our care and comply with this e.g., Children Act, Education Act and National Care Standards.
23. The post holder must participate in a yearly appraisal and agreed training programme which will be formulated following agreed appraisal.
24. To attend for work reliably and punctually.
25. To attend all training as required and take part in a positive manner.
26. To know where Our client Group policies are kept and to be aware of and follow their contents.
27. To remain vigilant and do everything possible to protect individual in our care residents and others from abuse of a physical, emotional, sexual, neglect, financial or institutional nature. This includes an absolute requirement to report any incident of this nature you witness, hear about or suspect in line with Our client group policies.
28. All staff are expected to make sure that all individual in our care, residents and colleagues have equal opportunities to acknowledge their individual difference and uphold their rights and responsibilities as set out in law and by Our client Group policies. Communication & Working Relationships
29. Co-ordinate visits from the health care professionals, paediatricians, psychologists, dentist, GPs and psychiatrists, ensuring appropriate records are available providing support during clinical and follow up referrals and associated enquires.
30. To attend meetings and check communication books, notice boards, diaries and pigeon holes daily to actively find information. There is an expectation for you to communicate information in a clear, legible, objective and professional manner, in a variety of ways, using the required level of confidentiality.
31. To contribute fully to making work teams effective by striving to build positive relationships. You must be willing to give and receive constructive feedback aimed at developing the quality of relationships and performance.
32. To promote effective communications and good relationships that respects the rights of individual in our care, residents and colleagues. This may involve using modified communication methods, including signing and symbol use, where the establishment provides for individual in our care whose special needs give rise to communication difficulties.
