Care Manager Jobs Search and Information

Care manager jobs are generally referred to for domiciliary managers.  Although the manager of any ´Registered´ care service is in fact a registered manager, the titles given to senior posts depends largely on the employer.  A care manager can also be described as a care home manager, and in the same way can refer to unit managers of care homes with large staff structures.

This page will describe care manager jobs in context with the domiciliary care sector.  You can visit our care home manager jobs page for further relevant information.

The Care Manager Job Role

Care Manager jobs cover the daily operation of a domiciliary care service, providing support to people in their own homes.

The care manager job role requires relationship building with social services and health authorities to receive care packages for clients in a localised area.  These can be short visits to assist with meals and general chores, through to full time live in care.  The aim of a care manager is to provide as many ‘hours’ of care as possible from their office. The more hours covered, the more profitable the business.

As with all care services, local reputation is pivotal to gaining new and continued client business.  This is earned through the reliability and consistency of care being provided by your employees.  In line with business growth, you need to constantly recruit reliable staff to cover your clients needs at all times.

In care manager jobs you are responsible for the actions of your employees by law.  You will need to verify workers identity and eligibility before they can start work – including criminal record checks.  It is also required by law that all staff members receive full and certified induction training.

To apply for care manager jobs you will need to either hold a social work qualification or have gained an NVQ4, RMA or LMC.

Care Managers require specialised knowledge, usually only developed through a career within the industry, or through education.  The requirements appear the same as those of a care home manager, however they are very different posts due to ways of working and regulations involved in providing home care services.

Overall the care manager jobs role demands a great level of passion and organisation with good people management skills.
